Cause of Beatification of the founder
Father Chevalier
On May 25, 2012, in the basilica of Notre-Dame du Sacré-Cœur at Issoudun (France), the first session was held of the Ecclesiastical Tribunal instituted by Mgr Armand Maillard, Archbishop of Bourges, for the cause of beatification and canonization of Jules Chevalier.
One of the principal tasks of the Tribunal is to gather all the evidence enabling the reputation for holiness of Jules Jean Chevalier to be authenticated, during his lifetime, at the time of his death, and since then.
About 150 people took part in this celebration, including lay members of the Fraternity of Notre-Dame du Sacré-Cœur, Daughters of Notre-Dame du Sacré-Cœur and Missionaries of the Sacred Heart.
At the end of this first session, Fr. Jean-Louis Desplaces, judge delegated to the tribunal, announced that further sessions would be held for the hearing of witnesses.
Mgr Maillard also asked everyone to pray for the Tribunal and for those who will be engaged in this procedure.
“Father Jules Chevalier was profoundly touched by the evils from which the men of his time suffered. In contemplating the Heart of Christ, in which the merciful love of the Father is revealed, he discovered that this Heart was for the world the remedy for all its evils. Animated by that same love and led by the Holy Spirit, he founded in the Church the Society of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart.”

Prayer of petition
Prayer to obtain graces through the intercession of the Servant of God Jules Chevalier.
In union with all sick people, and with all those who ask graces of God through the intercession of the Servant of God Jules Chevalier, we say:
Father, you who loved us even to giving up your Son for the salvation of the world, we thank you for having given the Church Father Jules Chevalier to proclaim the Word of Life and thus bring remedy to the evils of his time.
Contemplating with Mary “him whom they have pierced”, he was the passionate apostle of the Sacred Heart and of its merciful love, which he wanted to make loved to the ends of the earth.
Father, through his intercession, grant us, according to your will, the grace we ask of you (...), animated by the firm hope that he be proposed to the veneration of the faithful as an intercessor and a model. Amen.
