Healing of memories

let us pray with Father Émilien Tardif

You who heal us

Since we are all sick with the wounds of our past, here is a prayer of inner healing, so that the Lord may heal the heart of those who acknowledge that they need it.

Father of goodness, Father of love, I bless you, praise you and give you thanks, because through love you gave us Jesus. Thank you, Father; in the light of your Spirit, we understand that He is the light, the Truth and the Good Shepherd who came so that we might have life, and life to the full. Today, Father, I want to present this son (this daughter) to you. You know him (her) by name. I present him (her) to you, Lord, so that you may cast a Father’s gaze upon his (her) life. You know his (her) heart and the wounds of his (her) story. You know all that he (she) wanted to do and did not do. You know what he (she) has done and the wrong done to him (her).

Enter into this heart, Lord, as you entered into the house where your frightened disciples were. You appeared in their midst and said to them: “Peace be with you.” Enter into this heart and give it your peace. Fill it with love. We know that love casts out fear. Pass through his (her) life and heal his (her) heart.

We know, Lord, that you do this every time we ask you, and we ask you with Mary, our Mother, she who was at the Wedding of Cana, when there was no more wine, and you answered her desire, changing water into wine. Change his (her) heart; give him (her) a generous, gracious heart full of goodness; give him (her) a new heart. Make spring forth, Lord, in this brother (this sister), the fruits of your presence. Give him (her) the fruits of your Spirit, which are: love, peace and joy.

Grant that the Spirit of the Beatitudes descend upon him (her), so that he (she) may savour and seek God each day, living without complexes or traumas beside his (her) spouse, his (her) family and his (her) brothers. I give you thanks, Father, for what you do today in his (her) life. We give you thanks with all our hearts, for it is You who heal us. You who set us free. You who break our chains and give us back our freedom. Thank you, Lord, for we are temples of your Spirit, and this temple cannot be destroyed, for it is the House of God. We give you thanks, Lord, for the faith, for the love that you have placed in our hearts. How great you are, Lord! Be blessed and praised, Lord.
